Derek Edward Love



Derek is a graphic designer and design researcher based in New York.

he has designed and directed projects for the absolut spirits company, adopt the arts foundation, amtrak, gap inc., infiniti, johnson & johnson, kmart, l.l. bean, little river miami, mcdonald’s, milliontreesnyc, nielsen holdings plc, and orion jet center.

Derek currently works at Pentagram Design in New York. Previously, he worked with Milton Glaser and ran his own studio, Love&Partners.

Reductionism and purity of expression are central to Derek’s design practice, and he is interested in creating sustainable work that transcends passing fads. He fuses enduring design principals with research and writing throughout his process to support this goal. Derek’s work has been featured in Communication Arts, Graphis, and Print Magazine, and he was the 2016 winner of the Steven Heller Design Research Award.

He received a BA in graphic design from San Diego State University and an MA in Design Research, Writing and Criticism from the School of Visual Arts.
